MAINTENANCE POSITION JOB DESCRIPTION

COMPENSATION

Fulltime position – 36 hours/week. $18.50/hr – $23.61/hr; depending on experiences. Health, vision and dental insurance; deferred compensation contributions; long term disability; life insurance; paid vacation and paid sick leave; paid holidays.

SUPERVISOR: This position works with considerable independence under the direction of the

Property Manager.

 

PURPOSE of POSITION:   Performs routine maintenance and repairs to housing units owned or managed by Columbia Cascade Housing Corp (CCHC) in the Gorge area.  Travel is necessary to get to various sites in both Oregon and Washington.  This position has direct interaction with the public.

The Associate ensures service quality by adhering to organization’s policies and departmental procedures while receiving oral and written direction from the Executive Director or designate.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Schedule and perform routine apartment and building maintenance. This may include unit turnover work such as painting, cleaning, repairs, etc.

  • Purchase and transport supplies and materials to perform the required maintenance.

  • Complete maintenance request forms reflecting time, date and nature of work performed

  • Communicate to staff on technical or mechanical building issues as needed, including preventative maintenance issue.

  • Perform and/or oversee annual preventative maintenance inspections on all units.

  • Minor landscaping activities

  • Repairs to exterior maintenance; gutter cleaning, high pressure washing, minor siding problems, fence repair etc.

  • Notify manager promptly of any problems regarding grounds, buildings or with residents.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and skill of basic carpentry, painting, plumbing and repair work.

  • Ability to deal with problems faced by residents from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of housing codes, general maintenance procedures and practices.

  • At least one year of experience in carpentry, woodworking, or general building maintenance.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with; other employees, residents, and representatives of public and private social welfare agencies.

  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Fluent in Spanish and English languages preferred; and

  • Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands of Position:

  • Local area travel required and occasional out of area travel

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (i.e. supplies, equipment, tools, etc.)
