Update on Federal Government Shutdown
Congress did not pass a budget for Fiscal Year 2026, which began on October 1, 2025, resulting in a federal government shutdown.
At this time, Mid-Columbia Housing Authority (MCHA) and Columbia Gorge Housing Authority (CGHA) have sufficient resources to continue operating all housing assistance programs through November 2025.
There are currently no impacts to Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation or to any development or preservation projects in progress.
We remain fully committed to our mission and to supporting the ongoing housing stability of the individuals and families we serve.
Updates will be shared here as more information becomes available.

Who we are
Mid-Columbia Housing Authority (MCHA) and Columbia Gorge Housing Authority (CGHA) work together to promote affordable housing throughout the Gorge. In Oregon we serve Sherman, Wasco, and Hood River Counties. In Washington we serve Klickitat and Skamania Counties. We work towards this goal through the various programs offered for renters, landlords and homeowners as well as through developments owned and operated by our partner Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation.
Our Mission
To promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity, and a suitable living environment, free from discrimination to those who have barriers due to income or disability. The Mid-Columbia Housing Authority (MCHA) also administers housing programs for the Columbia Gorge Housing Authority (CGHA) and provides all staff support for Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation (CCHC), an affiliated non-profit organization.
