DESCRIPTION

Take action to help ensure every Oregon has a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home and have fun while doing it — join us for our Housing Opportunity Day of the 2018 Legislative Session on Thursday, February 15th!

This is your chance to meet your legislators and share stories about what’s happening in your community and tell them directly that we need to meet Oregonians’ housing needs now.

We arrange visits with key legislators, form teams, provide in-depth training, and send you off into the Capitol to talk about the Housing Opportunity Agenda. You will get a chance to ask Legislators to invest in housing opportunity, including ending homelessness, developing and preserving more affordable homes, and expanding access to homeownership.

We need your help to share stories with legislators and share our message that we need bold action on housing now. For people who have never attended a Housing Opportunity Day, we promise we’ll make it fun and easy –and if you’ve been before, we are excited to have you join us again! Lunch will be provided.

We’ll be making appointments and counting on you to attend. If you need to cancel, please email amcintosh@neighborhoodpartnerships.org, or call or text Alison at (503) 816-2882 as soon as possible.

Location: We will begin the morning at the First Congregational Church which is a short drive or walk from the Capitol. The church is at 700 Marion Street NE.

Transportation: We will do our best to assist attendees with arranging carpools. While we cannot guarantee transportation, please let us know if you are able to help carpool or will need a ride when you register. Thank you!

Trainings: We will be hosting a pre-lobby day training to help prepare attendees for the Housing Opportunity Day. Please check the box at registration if you would like to attend a training either in person or via webinar.

Parking: Parking is available in the Marion Parkade: Marion Parkade, 538 Liberty Street NE and on the street.

The Salem parking meters accept credit cards. If you would like to move your vehicle closer to the Capitol after lunch, there is street parking on the streets around the Capitol.

Schedule:

9:00 AM: Coffee and Pastries

9:30 AM: Registration

10:00 AM: Training begins

11:30 AM: Lunch

We’ll walk over to the Capitol at Noon together to begin our visits. If you need a ride to the Capitol, let us know when you check in!

12:00 PM-4:00 PM: Visits with Legislators and activities at the Capitol (900 Court St. NE, Salem).

Registration is free! If you would like to support housing opportunity by covering the cost of the day for yourself, you can contribute an optional $15 registration fee. If you would also like to sponsor the registration cost for one of your fellow community members, you can pay an optional $30 registration fee. This will cover the space we rent, food, materials for attendees, etc. Most of all, we want you to attend, so just choose whichever of the three ticket options works for you, and thank you for being part of this important day! Registration is limited! We only have capacity for 100 people.
